"...what you did do for one of these least ones, you did do for me" Mt. 25:45
The Catholic Church is, among other things, a community of caring believers. This intimately linked group has faith in Jesus Christ. It tries to follow his example of unselfish service and his words about loving one another. On every level, the Church, because of its belief in Jesus and his teachings, seeks to reach out with care for those who are in any kind of need. The Church sees itself as Jesus living in the world today. Jesus, according to this doctrine, is truly present in the Church, continuing to teach and heal now as he did two millennia ago, but through the voices and deeds of its members. Pastoral care and ministry, therefore, flows from the very nature of the Church.
